The track opens with a bright, looping synth phrase. Its repeating contour becomes the central hook, while the drum layer creates contrast: low kicks, clipped snares and shakers form a rhythmic bed beneath the melody. Across the arrangement the phrase returns with short transitions and effects, keeping the motif familiar without a vocal topline of its own.
The lower register anchors the loop and leaves the space above it open for a vocalist. Because the melody repeats rather than developing, the vocal is free to carry the song's story and structure.
Writing over Luna CVL
Pick your pulse
At about 86 BPM the beat supports a relaxed, melodic delivery that stretches notes across the kick and snare. Tap along with the hi-hats instead and you feel 172 BPM, which suits a quicker, more percussive rap flow. Try a verse in each and keep the one that feels natural. Our BPM and key guide explains why both numbers are correct.
Work with the key
B♭ minor gives the instrumental its slightly melancholy colour. Its relative major, D♭ major, uses the same notes, so a brighter-sounding chorus melody can still sit comfortably over the loop. Sing a rough chorus over the preview before licensing to check it suits your range.
Leave the hook room
The synth figure already occupies the upper midrange. A vocal hook that answers it, entering in the gaps between phrases, will usually sit more clearly than one that sings directly on top. When mixing, a gentle dip in the beat around the vocal's presence range helps; see mixing vocals on a two-track beat.
Choosing a license
The MP3 lease delivers a compressed file and suits demos, early singles and social content. The WAV lease provides uncompressed audio and is the better choice for a release you plan to mix and master properly. Both are non-exclusive and run for 12 months under the written agreement. The Unlimited tier removes stream caps within its agreed scope but is not a copyright transfer and is not exclusive. For a full explanation, read Beat Licensing Explained.
